From 2025–2026, I worked on an addition to Aurora West College Preparatory Academy, a roughly 13,000-square-foot expansion that replaced existing modular classrooms with permanent facilities. The project involved close collaboration with APS administration, school staff, and the owner's representative throughout programming, schematic design, and design development.
Given the scale and complexity of the existing building, the addition required careful coordination of building code and fire separation requirements. I was responsible for code-related research and documentation, including the design and detailing of a new reinforced CMU fire wall with a portal opening. Working directly with the structural engineers, I coordinated the development and approval of this atypical detail to address the project's multiple construction types and fire separation requirements.
